Stringfield Family Park, tucked in the neighborhoods between River Rd and McLaughlin in Oak Grove, is a cute little playground and natural area.

Built in 2009, Stringfield Family Park is located along the six-mile Trolley trail that connects Milwaukie, Oak Grove, and Jennings Lodge. It's the perfect spot to stop, play, and picnic, along with a leisurely walk or bike ride.

Although recommended for ages 5-12, younger children should have no problem playing at the playground, with basics such as monkey bars, two baby swings, and two kid swings. However, it isn't limited to basics and has unique features such as a stand-in spinner and several different areas and ways to climb. Each with a slide, two connected structures made this small park feel anything but.

A short 0.3-mile paved ADA-accessible trail loops around the park, perfect for kids to bike or ride their scooters. Along the paved path are several benches to sit and two bridges over a tiny creek filled with ducks (we also saw a nutria). The park is surrounded by several medium-sized grassy fields that are roomy enough for a picnic on a warm day or a game of frisbee.

Sit and snack at one of the three covered picnic tables or use one of the two indoor bathrooms with flush toilets and running water, and don't forget to stop at the drinking fountain for a drink of water.

Several signs were posted about the area's habitat restoration, asking visitors to stay on the trails and designated spaces, which is easy with such lush grass fields and such a fun place to play!

Hi, I’m Emily. A stay at home mom to two young children. We love getting outside & I’m always looking for new ways to challenge ourselves to do so. Me being an avid hiker & camper before kids, it’s only felt natural to continue exploring (if but a little slower), with them in tow. Besides hiking & camping, I’m also passionate about traveling, stand up paddleboarding, working out, swimming, cooking, reading for pleasure, living a nontoxic lifestyle, needle felting, & following my heart.
