Tilden Park Little Farm is a great place to feed farm animals.
Tilden Park is a wonderful and large park in the Berkeley hills and encompasses over 2,000 acres. There are many activities in the park, hiking, trails and picnic sites. And the Little Farm is a fun and free spot to feed farm animals. You must bring your own lettuce and celery to feed the animals and nothing else is allowed as animal food. The farm is on a hill and it can be muddy and slippery if wet from recent rain. So, I recommend close toed shoes only at any farm or boots if it's wet. You can feed the goats, ducks, chickens, pigs, sheep and cows. You cannot feed the rabbits, but you can see them.
There is an interpretive center next to the farm with restrooms and they also have a small gift shop there. Tilden Park is one of my favorite places to visit in the Bay Area and the Little Farm is fun for little kids and so nice that it is free. There is also a small playground at the parking lot and there are grassy meadows to have a picnic. There are bathrooms and hand washing stations. But, it doesn't hurt to bring your own hand sanitizer. After visiting the Little Farm, we love to explore more of what Tilden Park has to offer: the merry-go-round (carousel), steam train, botanical garden, hiking trails and picnic areas. There is no cell service at the Little Farm. The Environmental Education center is only open Tues - Sun, 10am-4:30pm. There are field trips here sometimes, but we've always gotten parking.
