Waverly Glen Park is a nice community park with hiking trails leading to a beautiful waterfall making it a memorable family adventure and great photo ops.
The best time to visit is after it rains and the water levels are higher so you will get to see the full beauty of the falls. The park is very clean and has a lot of open space. It’s a perfect place for a family hike and picnic. There is plenty of parking, covered pavilions for picnicking, tennis courts and a few small playgrounds for added fun for little ones. The playgrounds are pretty dated and small, but the kids don’t seem to mind and still like climbing and playing on them.
The trail to the falls is at the back of the park behind the pavilion and play area. If you're interested in a longer hike and more peaceful scenery, follow the yellow trail that leads into Two Rivers State Park.
It is a paved walkway for most of the trek back to the falls but then turns to gravel with some loose rocks and hills to climb. It wouldn’t be good for a stroller and some of the climbing could be tough for little legs so bring your baby carrier. Plenty of folks had their dogs with them.
Since it is near water there are a lot of bugs in the summer. You will definitely want to bring bug spray to try to help keep them away. We heard the bugs can get really bothersome later in the day.
There are bathrooms, but not much better than a porta-potty. We hear there are plans to update the playgrounds and the bathrooms, but not sure when that will be.
If you don't bring a picnic with you, Bluestone Brewing Company is a great local brewery just 2 miles down the road where you can refuel.
