Turtle Park is one of Denver’s smallest parks but also one of its most beloved.
W.H. Ferguson Park, affectionately known as "Turtle Park" is a favorite for families with children of all ages in the heart of Park Hill. The park is great for the warmer months because it has plenty of shade. One unique feature of Turtle Park is that children have left toys in the park over the years for other children to play with. Kids love to go and play on the playground and play with new toys. The playground features swings for big kids and babies, monkey bars, a climber, and a twisty slide. There are picnic tables, a covered pavilion, and benches, but no water fountains or bathrooms. In the winter months, it can get icy due to its location, but this is rarely a problem. Though the park is great for all ages, it is best suited for younger children. Though the playground borders a somewhat busy street, it is fenced-in on all sides and feels safe for younger children.
Another wonderful feature of the park is that it is located across the street from Honey Hill Cafe where adults can grab a coffee and children can get delicious homemade ice cream. It is also across the street from another local favorite, Spinelli's Market, where families can pick up delicious sandwiches and other goodies from the deli or simply grab some groceries.
Turtle Park is often a meeting place for families and neighbors and is truly a focal point of the neighborhood. It is quite common to run into neighbors and friends there. It's great for kids of all ages and is truly a centerpiece of the community.
