Ice Skating In Denver for the 2021 Holiday Season

Check out our list of the best ice skating spots in Denver! No matter the weather, it's always a great time to get out and explore the city!

Downtown Denver Rink at Skyline Park

The downtown Denver Rink is located smack dab in well, you guessed it...downtown! Grab your mittens and a warm pair of socks and head on down for a fun day out with the family.

One of the great things about this rink, is you only pay for your ice skate rentals; only $9 for adults and $7 for kids 12 and under. If you have your own pair, you can skate for free!

Denver 4th graders as well as owners of MyDenver cards get to skate free all season long as well. This is probably one of the best deals of all the rinks in the area!

Parker Ice Trail at Discovery Park

This is less of an ice skating rink and more of an ice skating trail (as the name suggests!). It's fun to try something a bit different than the usual circular rinks and this one is the perfect size for all ages. Approximately 20 feet across and 450 feet long, the trail winds through Discovery Park and allows skaters a fun winter experience.

There are three fire pits to help visitors stay warm and a concession stand in case the kids want some hot chocolate or a snack after their skating session!

The Pond Ice Rink at the Southlands

Get some last-minute shopping in before taking a spin on the pop-up ice rink at the Southlands in Aurora, Co. Located in front of the movie theatre at the outdoor shopping village, this is a great place to soak in some holiday cheer!

Head over early or plan to stay a little later and eat at one of the many restaurants within the Southlands. The entire area is decorated beautifully for the holidays and will get you (or keep you!) in the holiday spirit!

This year you can purchase your tickets in advance!

There is also a Visit with Santa experience that is going on now through Christmas at Southlands. Time your ice skating and shopping trip with a meet and greet with Santa! Be sure to make reservations in advance along with your ice skating session to avoid disappointment.

And of course, you can always catch a movie at the AMC theater before or after your ice skating and make this a true full-day outing!

Winter Skate in Louisville

Head to downtown Louisville and have some fun on their 6500 square foot outdoor rink this winter. They have skate aids for the younger kids as well as double-runner skates to help them learn (and hopefully stay on their feet longer!). They will also be periodically resurfacing the ice this year so that it stays smooth for skaters.

Be sure to jump on a free horse-drawn carriage ride when you are done!

Lake Ice Skating

Ok, so I know that these next two are not technically in Denver. And I know depending on traffic, it could take quite a while to get to them, BUT...few people around the country get to ice skate on a frozen lake, so I had to add them! Plus Evergreen Lake might be one of my absolute favorites in the area, so I'm a bit partial.

Evergreen Lake

Since this is an actual lake and not a pop-up rink, the opening is all dependent on good ol' Mother Nature. Currently, it has been unseasonably warm and the lake is not yet frozen over. According to their website, they are hoping to open sometime in mid-December, but keep checking back before you head up!

The cost to skate is $10 per person and $7 for skate rentals. You can also reserve your own "rink" if you have an event going on for $80/hour. This includes up to 15 people and is great if you want some quality time with just your family!

Keystone Lake

If you happen to find yourself needing to get away from the hustle and bustle for a few days, Keystone might be the perfect spot. It is a little under two hours from Denver (traffic and weather dependent...don't hold us to that!) and a true winter wonderland experience with skiing, ice skating, and of course, tons of snow!

Be sure to try some ice skating at either Dercum Village or on Keystone Lake. Both offer fun and festive atmospheres! There really is no better way to get some fresh air and exercise during the cold winter months. As with Evergreen Lake, there is no official opening date as they need the weather to cooperate and freeze it over.

Once open, admission prices are as follows:

Keystone Lake:

2 Hours

Adults: $15 (Ages 13 & up)

Youth: $10 (Ages 5-12)

Senior/4 & under: Free
