Take in a show at Richmond's gorgeous Altria Theater!

We recently had a chance to see a show at Richmond's Altria Theater, and we were so impressed by this gorgeous venue. Because it was our first time seeing a show at this theater, we learned a lot about navigating the whole experience.

First, this may seem obvious, but all shows at the Altria Theater require tickets. You may purchase tickets online through their website, or at the Box Office during specified hours. Purchasing at the Box Office can help avoid convenience fees for online transactions. To stay up to date on upcoming shows, you can check the website, or subscribe to emails. The Altria shows a wide range of productions, like The Lion King, the Book of Mormon, stand up comedians, and more.

When you arrive at the theater, there are two parking garages nearby. You could also park on the street, but it is quite limited. We parked at 801 W. Main St. This parking garage is a very quick walk to the theater. It costs $10 to park here, and it is cash only, so be sure to have some on hand. Once in the theater, there are two areas to purchase concessions. The food and drinks can be enjoyed inside the theater, or on the beautiful and comfortable couches in the entryway. You may use a card for food and beverage purchases. To give you an idea of prices, the popcorn we split was $8. They also sell boxed candy, bottled drinks/water, wine, and beer.

Merchandise is sold before shows past the main entrance to the left. If you don't want to purchase anything, you can easily avoid walking through this area. There are restrooms on both floors. We found that there are many more stalls in the downstairs restrooms, and the line there moves much quicker during intermission.
