playground

Close to Old Dominion University’s S.B. Ballard Stadium, this playground is perfect for anyone who lives nearby or if you’re in the area for a football game!

The fact that the playground is completely fenced in is a huge relief because it protects from the street and gives peace of mind when the littles are running around freely. There is plenty of open green space to play kickball, soccer, or frisbee. Bluestone Playground is dog friendly and a great spot to bring your furry family members to sniff and run around while the kiddos swing and climb on the play structure.

There are two bigger kid swings and two toddler or baby swings. Bluestone Park boasts two different play structures. The smaller one is great for climbing and even provides rock climbing holds along the outside of the structure for some adventurous bouldering and scaling! The other structure is shaped like a pirate ship complete with two levels, a rope ladder, helm, and is ideal for any pirate-loving kiddo. It helps to spur imaginative play and is simply fun to climb on and explore.

There are a few benches and a picnic table for having snacks. There are plenty of trees and shade which is extra nice for those hot, sunny days. Take note that the street parking is fairly limited and was only for one hour, but there is a parking garage a few blocks away where you can pay for parking. If you’re looking to grab a bite to eat, West Ghent is a short 10-minute drive and has lots of yummy places to choose from.
