Bowne Park is an underrated gem in the Broadway-Flushing Historic District.

This part features an assortment of activities to partake in, along with the endless possibilities with its beautiful scenery and open space for even more. The park is clean and well maintained and spread out over a couple of blocks within a good neighborhood. This being so, there is typically easily accessible street parking nearby. In case of emergencies, there is a bathroom that is kept decently clean.

It’s not unusual to see a decent crowd of both old and young ages, as the park is dog friendly and many people go for walks on the few paved pathways. Along the pathways, there are a couple of scattered trashcans in case you need to throw anything away. There are also many benches and tables to sit down at to give your legs a break and enjoy the scenic views of the large pond. Over by the water, you can find all sorts of wildlife from ducks, geese, turtles, and fish. Many also take the opportunity to fish in the pond, or simply lounge out on the grass since there’s a decent amount of space and greenery.

The park has an impressive, colorful, and updated playground set with slides and swings for all ages, including a smaller area for toddlers and young ones and intricate interactive equipment for everyone to explore. In the summertime, there’s a splash pad that’s perfect to cool off. Around the playground, there are a couple of metal fences to try to corral all the kids into one space, but there’s plenty of space to wander around towards the pond.

For older kids and adults, there’s a basketball court to shoot around on, as well as two bocce ball courts that attract many people to play in the warm months.

The pond is about to undergo a renovation as well, improving the quality of the water and more.

The park is overall very peaceful and makes you feel like you’re out of the city!
