Burying Hill has a quiet beach, perfect for a family activity no matter what season!
At only 2.39 acres, Burying Hill Beach is a great small beach park to visit for a relaxing day by the water with your family. It is a much quieter spot to visit than Sherwood Island and Compo Beach, because it is mainly designated for Westport residents. That being said, it is definitely smaller than the two other beaches in the area and has a few less of the amenities they offer. It is still a great beach to visit for a couple hours of fun in the sun swimming and playing in the sand. Burying Hill Beach does have lifeguards in prime swimming seasons and hours, so your whole family can enjoy the Long Island Sound with that peace of mind. Since there are no other activities, be sure to bring sand toys, sports equipment or kites for kids to play with. It is a super fun family day to enjoy and super conveniently located for those who live in Westport. Have a great barbecue lunch or dinner using one of the grills located on the beach! There is also a picnic table section to eat at. Other amenities include a restroom and changing area.
The beach is open to all in the off season, and is a great location for walks any time of the year. It is a great way to change the scenery from the typical wooded walking paths you would think of using in the fall and winter.
The beach is part of Westport Parks and Recreation, and does require Westport Beach Emblems through Labor Day for visitors. There are parking fees for those who are not Westport residents, which vary for in state and out of state vehicles. If you are registered in Connecticut, weekday parking is $25 and weekend parking is $30. Out of state vehicles cost $35 on weekdays and $50 on weekends.
