Play & Learn: CMor - Chesterfield offers lots to learn through play!
The Children's Museum of Richmond - Chesterfield location is one of our family's go to spots for rainy or cold days. The space is massive, so kids have enough space to run and move freely. Additionally, the wide variety of exhibits ensure that every child will find something they love!
While their preferences constantly change with each visit, my son loves the Transportation Station, where he can drive a firetruck, and even put on a firefighter's helmet. He also loves Water Play, and the Tire Tower. Tire Tower is truly just a huge stack of tires for children to climb and push, while Water Play is a long water table with tiny boats for children to observe, and make predictions. Kids will need to stick their hands into the whirlpool to retrieve their boats, so pack a change of clothes just in case!
My daughter really enjoys the Art Studio, where there are endless amounts of art supplies and upcycled materials to use. My daughter loves to create and enjoys how open ended this space is. Another of her favorites is The Climber, a huge tunnel/slide. The Climber is for ages 3+ only, as it is quite high, but there is a toddler slide adjacent to the large climber. Also, for younger kiddos is The Enchanted Forest, an area for ages 3 and under. There are soft cushions, board books, a nursing room, and a gate, making this an ideal space for little ones.
At the front of the museum, near the check-in, are a few tables, and a microwave. We like to bring snacks or even a lunch to eat at the museum. It is the perfect way to break up the outing. Before visiting, purchase tickets online. Children under 1 are free, children and adults are $9, and seniors (over 60) are $8. If you plan to visit several times in a year, consider purchasing the membership. A family membership costs $149, and has other benefits including gift shop and birthday party discounts.
We usually spend 2-3 hours playing, and my children are always tired after a full morning of play! If we don't eat at the museum, there is a Chick-Fil-A just across the street.
