The Coronado Tidelands Park is a large park with a fantastic playground, multi-use trails, athletic fields, and a skate park.
This park is the biggest of all the Coronado parks with a playground area overlooking the bay and downtown San Diego. The beautiful big trees provide the perfect mix of sun and shade. The playground offers climbing structures for both big and little kids and a soft ground surface as well as sand. There are a few different slides and a fun sitting area set up underneath the play structure for an outdoor fort feel. Note that there are no swings on-site, however this playground has been recognized as a model of inclusive design for people with disabilities.
Restrooms are only steps away as is the bay with tons of boats anchored offshore, which are fun to watch. The scenic paved path runs from Silver Strand to the Old Ferry Landing. It is perfect for a stroller run, bikes, scooters, or roller blades. This is also a popular spot to put in a kayak or stand up paddle board if you are looking for a water adventure. There is also a workout area for the older kids and adults, and impressive sculptures to admire.
I imagine it gets busy on weekends with sports fields and a skate park nearby so bring your patience. Ample parking onsite!
The waterfront area stretches for over a mile and the walking path leads you to a variety of restaurants and ice cream shops if you're looking for a treat.
