There's always something to do for people of all ages at Cunningham, one of Queen's biggest parks.

Cunningham Park is a 358-acre park that’s sure to have something for everyone, no matter the day. The park is accessible off of the turnpike as well as a lot hidden by Francis Lewis Boulevard. There’s no denying that this is a popular hot spot for people due to the atmosphere. There are paved paths and other trails for people of all different ages to walk, jog, run, or bike throughout the park to see the scenic views of nature in Queens. However, despite the heavy traffic the park attracts, the park also contained much of the NYC Parks Development equipment which is used to keep it regularly cleaned and updated. They do provide a public restroom that is easily accessible in case of emergencies.

There are some picnic tables around the park, but not too many so they often are taken later in the day. There are a couple of grills around the park to barbeque with family and friends for any occasion and eat at the tables. Also, there’s not too much shade in the big open fields where you can play sports, games, or set up a picnic.  They also have a couple of assortments of equipment for kids to play on. For older children and adults, there are tennis courts to play and get moving and a large area to play bocce ball.

There is never a dull moment at Cunningham Park and there are constantly new events happening for the public. Every Sunday, NYRR hosts their weekly open runs at the park where everyone is welcome to come, walk or run at the park and enjoy the fresh air. Also on Sundays, there is often a farmers market to buy fresh fruits and vegetables to take home. For the kiddos, the ice cream truck typically makes rounds around the park in the summertime when it gets warm. There is plenty of parking in the very large lots by the park which makes it an even more enjoyable experience for every family.
