Dan Daniel Memorial Park Is A One-Stop Shop for A Full Day of Family Fun.
The Dan Daniel Memorial Park is a beautiful 170-acre site along the Dan River in Danville, Virginia. This amazing park has quite literally something for everyone. It boasts a modern playground, minor league baseball stadium, soccer fields, skate park, river walk, and hiking and biking trails; this park has a full day of fun ready for your family.
The playground features slides, rock climb, swinging bridge, ladders, wobbly stepping stones, and stairs for the little ones to get to the top. There is a small covered pavilion next to the playground where parents can sit to watch their kids (and stay shaded from the sun!). The parking lot is directly next to the playground, making it easy to load the kids in and out.
The park also has a great minor league baseball stadium where the Danville Otterbots play. Check out their schedule here if you want to grab tickets while you are in town! Other sports options include a skate park and beautiful soccer fields where the kids can practice their skills. A few soccer clubs do practice at these fields, so be sure to go earlier in the day if your kids are hoping to kick the ball around.
One of the best and most unique features of this park is its expansive set of trails. They have both walking, and nature trails and a paved river walk along the Dan River. There is a 4.5-mile intermediate loop trail called Hidden Hollow and the White Fawn Trail, which is a 1.4-mile beginners trail. Both trails connect and are accessible for trail runners/walkers and mountain bikers.
The Riverwalk runs directly alongside the river and connects the park with Anglers Park on the other side of the highway and the Danville Science Center. You can also reach the historic Danville downtown from here as well.
