Enjoy free, safe, indoor fun at the Enon Library!

Enon Library, a branch of Chesterfield County Public Library is absolutely charming! We love this library as it is never crowded, even on weekends. The children's section is so dreamy! A colorful, alphabet carpet, comfy seating, and books arranged so your children can easily make selections are only a few reasons why this is a favorite for a rainy day activity!

Parking is easy and convenient, directly in front of the library. There is a picnic table outside of the library, so pack snacks or a lunch to enjoy outside when you are done book browsing! The children's section is very inviting, my children love to pick out their books and read through them on the comfortable seats at the center of this area. I love visiting this library, because of the layout, no matter where my children are, I can see them.  The books are organized with "new" books labeled with a yellow sticker. All the newest library books are also all together in one place, near the back of the children's section. Further, books are organized by themes which you can find on the spine of the book. I love this system, because my children do not pull out books to see them, they find the image on the spine, and then decide if they should take it off the shelf. Some book themes are: "zoo animals", "ready for kindergarten", Valentine's day", "winter" and more.

If you have an older child, there is a computer in the children's section where they can use the children's catalog to easily find books in their genre of interest. My eight-year-old daughter especially loves finding graphic novels by using the children's catalog. Once my kids have chosen their books we use the self-checkout system. This is a very easy way to involve your children in the book check-out process. Even my four-year-old scans his own books!

The restrooms are at the back of the building, past the circulation desk. You must be a county resident to obtain a library card. Fill out this online application form to quickly receive a library card. If you live in a neighboring county or city, you may be eligible for reciprocity, so check with the librarian after completing this form. After visiting the library, head over to Enon Elementary's playground, about five minutes away. There's an obstacle course, basketball hoops, and a playground area perfect for ages two through tween!
