Run by the City of Virginia Beach, this small but mighty playground is great to explore in between errands.

The Eureka Park and neighborhood playground is perfect for both big and little kids. The castle-themed play structure is certainly a highlight, but you'll also find four big kid swings, two baby swings, a picnic shelter, benches and ample shade. Two slides are attached to the "castle," for big and little kids to enjoy. Circular monkey bars are also connected to the play structure. Though slightly difficult for smaller kids to master, the bars add a fun level of challenge to the park. Though most of the park is grassy, the playground sits on wood chips. Basketball fans will enjoy the nice basketball court on the premises. But there's also loads of green space for a rousing game of hide and seek.

Located near Virginia Beach Boulevard, Eureka Park is a great area to visit when you and the kids are running errands or in the neighborhood. We love to swing by the playground with a picnic lunch or afternoon snacks. Thanks to the lush trees and shaded picnic table structure, it's a great spot for an alfresco meal. (Unlike some parks within Virginia Beach, this picnic pavilion is not available to reserve — likely because it just shelters a single picnic table.)

There's also a large gravel parking lot, as well as street parking, so finding a spot to park your car is never an issue. Dog owners will be happy to know that leashed dogs are welcome too.

The City runs this park, keeping it clean and well-maintained. Despite being a playground, it's often a quiet and calm space to sit and enjoy nature. Plus, people from the neighborhood frequently walk their dogs through the park.
