Awesome Playground and SplashPad at Frank Zaccaria Memorial Park!
Frank Zaccaria Memorial Park is a great stop for a few hours of outdoor fun, no matter what activity your crew is in the mood for! There are sports courts, hiking trails, a splash park and a great wooded playground. The playground has separate sections for each age group, one designed for ages 2-5 and a bigger one for ages 5-12. There are monkey bars and great slides in each playground. There are also swings for all ages, and a handicap swing as well. There is plenty of shade in the playground area, with trees and pavilions all around. The ground is wood chips, so it is best to bring closed-toed shoes to avoid splinters. Although it is not the largest or most impressive park in the area, it is a great little hidden gem that will keep the kids engaged and entertained for quite some time.
After you are done at the playground, there is still plenty to do at the park. The hiking/walking trails go around Henderson Pond and are great easy trails for all ages. They make for a pretty quick walk, so everyone in the family can enjoy it together. There are also sports courts and pavilions near the playground. Older kids love playing basketball, tennis or enjoying the skate park while the younger kids play at the park. Then, you can all join up again for a nice pre-packed family picnic under one of the great shaded pavilions. There are benches and tables all around the park.
One of the coolest things that this park has is the Woodland Splash Park. It is great for the younger crew especially, but kids up to 12 will still enjoy it. There are a bunch of super cool features, and on a hot summer day kids will love cooling off in it. However, the splash park is not free. Season passes are available to residents for $15 and non-residents for $20, each per child. Daily passes are $5 per child. All kids under 2 are free admission. The hours of the splash park are also different from the rest of the park, as it is open from 12 to 4 pm on weekends. Weekday hours change throughout the summer, as it is open until 4 pm through August 9th, then 12 pm-7 pm until September. This is a great activity open on hot days from late spring to early fall.
