Bring your running shoes, scooter, or stroller to Georgetown!
People in search of fun outdoor activities will love running, jogging, or walking around the recently revamped Georgetown waterfront.
It offers wonderful and widely paved walkways meant for exercising and enjoying the sights of DC. It's great for the whole family. We like to start near the spray park (seasonally available), move on to say hello to the ducks, and tire out little legs before starting an official stroller run.
When you are ready to go, facing the waterfront, head left past the restaurants and curve around the path past the Kennedy Center and toward the Watergate steps on the rear side of the Lincoln Monument. Dogs are allowed on this path but must be leashed, so bring the pup if you want to add a friend!
This is a 2.5 (ish) mile and out and back trek with a chance to enjoy the small uphill burn on the way out and coast downhill on the way back. There are also plenty of opportunities to stop the stroller to enjoy the impressive scenery. Whether you are pushing yourself on a run or enjoying a leisurely stroll, you will likely have fun on this waterfront!
Chaia Taco is a delicious vegetarian option for a bite to eat nearby. Il Canale is also great for pizza and pasta, just a short walk from the waterfront.
If a sweet treat is what you're craving after your run, Georgetown Cupcake and Baked and Wired are both less than five minutes by foot.
After grabbing takeout, or a snack to go, bring it over for some playtime at Volta Park, which is a ten-minute walk directly north of the Waterfront.
