Goffle is a great, new sensory playground in Hawthorne!
Located 15 minutes from downtown Wayne, Goffle Brook Park is newly renovated, with improvements in many sections, including the creation of a sensory playground. The space opened in the summer of 2020 and aims to promote cognitive development via numerous educational features that stimulate childrens’ every sense. The playground is specially designed to be inclusive and beneficial for children of all needs and abilities.
One of the coolest features that the playground has to offer is cognitive development equipment, which includes many gears and spinning features that are sure to keep kids entertained for a good amount of time while keeping them thinking while playing. There is also a small climbing dome with many different holes for kids to peak in and out of.
The jungle gym section is also really great—especially for younger kids. It is not too large, yet it manages to have a lot of awesome features. There are multiple slides of different sizes and heights, plus two of them are racing slides. Cute little features adorn the jungle gym, including a colorful ABC letter feature that kids can climb up and down on. The climbing features range in difficulty levels, so kids of various ages will be able to stay engaged while playing. If you have toddlers, however, they will need assistance in most parts of the playground. Under the jungle gym, there are great little sections for playing pretend. Outside of the jungle gym section, you’ll find a sitting rocking boat that kids and adults can fit in! It’s a super cool, unique piece of equipment!
The park has restrooms and parking is available very close to the playground. There are plenty of other activities to explore within the park as well, including athletic fields and courts, paved walkways, and the cute little duck pond. Want more adventure? Bring a bike or scooter, because this is a perfect place for the kiddos to practice riding them! In the winter, this park is a super popular sledding location, so be sure to keep that in mind too.
