Take advantage of the rare sunny Seattle day at Green Lake Park in the East Lake neighborhood.
There are so many great opportunities to get outside and active here, whether you have a free hour or plan to get the family outside for the whole day. This giant park is such a great classic location for a casual walk or run all around the lake. The walking and jogging path is fully paved with two lanes. Grab your stroller or kiddo’s bikes and scooters for this perfect flat and scenic trail. Even early Sunday morning many members of the community were out and enjoying the pretty and relaxing sunrise. Take a quick break from the trail by heading out onto one of the boarded docks. There are always people fishing and enjoying the rest of the water activities, especially on warmer days.
The Greenlake Boathouse is a great place to stop by when you are looking for a more exciting activity on the water. Those 18+ can rent kayaks, canoes and other non motored boats for the whole crew to enjoy! Lifejackets are provided with the rental and required at all times. There are also swimming beaches on the lake that are super popular in season.
If you were looking for a snack, the Greenlake Boathouse also has a little cafe for quick refreshments. It is currently open from 9am-5pm. There are also nearby restaurant and cafe options in town. Take advantage of the picnic tables whether you have food from the concession stand, local restaurants, or even with a yummy prepacked lunch!
If you are visiting with kiddos, they will absolutely love the Green Lake Park Playground, and you can read the full writeup here.
You can plan for a long day here exploring all that Green Lake has to offer.
Tip: Bring along a tennis racket or sports equipment to take advantage of the fields and courts
