A great mixture of nature and play awaits at the Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park Playground and Splashpad!

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park is the hidden nature oasis that everyone needs to visit while in Jacksonville! The playground is easily the coolest playground that we have seen in the area so far, with features that will entertain the whole family! Its colorful and fun atmosphere will grab everyone's attention, and a fan favorite is definitely the amazing zipline. All members of the family will get a good giggle seeing how far they can make it across. Another feature that all parents with babies will love are the generation swings. There are also traditional swings for older kids. The jungle gym is definitely a focal point for the park as well, with many high slides for all the little thrill seekers to enjoy. The entire park has a cute nature theme, including the jungle gym which has hidden creatures all over the tree trunk - see how many your crew can find! The park is complete with scattered tree trunks and log tunnels all across the wide open spaces, as well as climbing features like a fish ladder. There are so many wonderful things to discover here, it is a great way to get outside for hours! Be sure to pack a lunch, there are a bunch of picnic benches all around the park.

The park is fairly well shaded, but if you are visiting on a hot day, it can still get a little steamy, so you will definitely want to take advantage of the great water activities Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park has to offer! Just behind the playground is a wonderful splash park to cool down from the Jacksonville heat. Kiddos love the colorful butterfly theme and all of the open space to run around. The splash park is enclosed with a fence and open from dawn to dusk. Another water activity for the whole family is kayaking in the lake. The Hanna Park Kayak Shack offers kayak rentals every weekend from August to February from 12:30-6:00pm. They also offer drink refreshments at the Shack while it is open.

There is a $5 per vehicle fee to enter Hanna Park, but once you are in you get to take advantage of the great playground and splash pad, as well as the hiking and biking trails, beach access points, and even camping options! If you plan to pair this activity with any of these, be sure to check out the happyly write-ups for ambassador tips and tricks!
