Nothing says wild west like hopping on a horse and galavanting through the Wyoming wilderness! Horseback riding adventures are a great way to explore Jackson and the surrounding areas. Our favorite place to go is Turpin Meadow Ranch. We love it here for a variety of reasons but the trail riding and lessons stand out among everything.
Two options:
1. Trail Riding - great for bigger kids and teens. The tour is about two hours with the first 45 minutes through a meadow with a slow incline and the last uphill portion (about 600 feet of elevation gain) to an incredible view of the Tetons. In August, we truly enjoyed the wildflowers and I imagine the fall is equally as wonderful.
2. 1 on 1 or Group Lessons/Pony Rides: Perfect option for the littles to get a taste of the horse experience that fits into a shorter attention span. We loved the instructor's creativity with regard to creating a fun experience for everyone.
Directions: The ranch is located approximately one hour north of town and 15 minutes from the second Teton/Yellowstone entrance.
What to Wear: Jeans, closed-toed shoes and lots of sunscreen. They have helmets onsite (a must-have for our group).
