Killarney is an amazing forested hiking path with surprise activities along the way for everyone to enjoy in Bellevue!
We loved getting outside and exploring everything that Killarney Glen Park has to offer. The walk itself is amazing, with a rocky walking path that winds through the 10 acre park, with a couple of different trail route options. All of them are very flat and easily doable for all ages. If you walk straight down the path instead of taking one of the side routes you will quickly find the tennis courts and playground. The tennis court was especially wet and flooded when we visited just after a big storm, but on a drier day would definitely be an ideal location. There is also a great basketball court that kids love! There is just the right amount of shade from the surrounding trees, and it feels so relaxing to play surrounded by the beautiful nature of Killarney Glen.
Just across from the courts is the play section of the park, which is designated for ages 2-12. There is a tot lot for 2-5 year olds complete with a slide and fireman pole, as well as a cute animal cartoons for kids practicing their animal names to be engaged with. There is also an older kid jungle gym that has every single piece of climbing equipment you could imagine plus so much more! It could easily keep kids having fun for hours on end and is a great little surprise for them to enjoy after completing a hike! In between the two jungle gyms are little stepping stones and other small pieces of climbing equipment. For all of the swing lovers there are both big kid and baby swings in the very back of the playscape section of the park.
The park is also home to a lot of benches and picnic tables if your crew is one that needs a break along their walks. The park is handicap accessible, but it is important to keep in mind that the trail is gravel instead of paved. There are restrooms available seasonally, so if you are visiting in the off season it is important to plan restroom stops before or after your trip there.
