Enjoy the family-friendly "Candy Apple Grove" area in Kings Dominion

Kings Dominion offers an array of options for families. For younger families, I suggest spending most of your visit within the Planet Snoopy area. For families with older children, I suggest Candy Apple Grove, another family-friendly area within the large amusement park. If your kids are still young enough to enjoy the features and rides in Planet Snoopy, I recommend starting there, and then following the paved path to Candy Apple Grove, as it is just behind Planet Snoopy. The entire park is stroller/wagon friendly.

Candy Apple Grove has several features that appeal to all ages. First, there are singing mushrooms and frog near the front. These guys make my kids laugh so much, and they could watch them all day. Just across from this, is Rita's Italian Ice. My kids love cooling off with a scoop of gelati - you can layer Italian ice and custard! There are nearby benches where you can sit to enjoy your treats.

Candy Apple Grove also has family friendly rides, including: the ferris wheel, carousel and the swings. If you're unsure about which rides are safe for your kids, check in at the "Height Check" upon arrival, where your child will be measured and given a wristband displaying which rides are safe. Candy Apple Grove has a family restroom near the front area, a Subway and a pizza eatery, where you can sit inside the AC and enjoy.

Prior to visiting Kings Dominion, you must purchase tickets online. Kids 2 and under are free; kids ages 3-5 are also free with a pre-k pass. To obtain the pass, register your child online, and bring them along with proof of their birth to the park by the date listed on the website. If you plan to visit the park several times during the year, consider purchasing a season pass to save, as it does include parking. As Candy Apple Grove has several dining options, if you plan to eat at the park, purchasing a Dining Plan may be your most economical option.
