Laurel Hill is a great waterfront park and playground in Secaucus.
Laurel Hill Park in Secaucus NJ has something for the whole family with a playground, sports fields, water sports and great walking trails. The playground, called SS Fun Ship, is the cutest little playground designed for younger kids and toddlers. It has a nautical theme, so your imaginative kiddos can pretend they are a captain sailing the seas while playing with the steering wheel. There are plenty of places for kids to keep themselves entertained in the jungle gym, with a lot of different climbing features and a small slide. There are also a couple of ground-level activities suitable for toddlers and babies that can’t walk yet. There is a tunnel, as well as a couple of fun little tactile games on the playground equipment. The ground is a rubberized mat. It is a great playground for entertaining and engaging a younger crew, but is definitely more of a quick stop compared to other playgrounds we visited in the area.
Luckily, there is still a good amount of activities to do within the park to spend more time outdoors and together. There are two grass soccer fields, one turf field and a couple of baseball fields. These are great spaces to let the kids run around and play, and older kids could bring sports equipment to use while the younger ones are playing at the park. You can also enjoy a family walk all together, as there are many great walking paths within the park. They are stroller and ADA accessible, including the boardwalk promenade, a path that juts out and back into the water. Any of the waterfront walks are great, with little elevation gain and pretty views throughout. If you want to enjoy the water even more, there is also a boat dock for kayaks, canoes and other small water boats. The park is also home to the Hudson Bike Loop, so be sure to bring bikes and scooters along!
