Mayor Charles Becker is a neighborhood park featuring dinosaur bones and other great attractions!
This is one of the newest parks in the Gresham area. Tucked into the new development of Brookside, this new park is a gem! There is activities for all ages - playstructure, swings, dinosaur bones to climb on, in addition to other climbing and balancing stones. Half-court for basketball, multiple benches and picnic areas, green space (real grass) and a paved walking path surrounding the entire area. This walking path does connect to the Kelly Creek Trail (connecting to other parts of the neighborhood).
Shade is at a premium, so bring hats and sunscreen. The play structure does suggest it's for 5-12 year olds, but my 3-year old got along just fine.
The ground for the play structure and dino bones area is a turf grass, while the surrounding green space is real grass. The playstructure itself has two slides and 'firefighter' poles. Nearby is a modernized see-saw.
Being this is considered a neighborhood park, there is only street parking in front of homes and no bathroom. There are no amenities around the park, so come self sufficient (snacks, water, sunscreen, etc). This park is on a gentle slope (playground is at the top of the slope). While there is no real concern for how steep it is, a ball or bike might catch some speed.
There is a water fountain on the south end of the park near the covered pavillion and basketball court. Two for humans and one for a dog- so cute!
