McCook Point Park has everything you need for the perfect hot day in East Lyme.

Depending on which pass you choose, parking may be $10 or more for a seasonal pass to enter the park and get a parking spot here. However, it is well worth it for the incredible day it offers ahead of you. Not only does it allow you to have parking, but they also have bike parking here to leave your bikes while going to the water.

Although the park isn’t huge, it does offer a decent sized beach that is perfect for any hot day for the kiddos to have a blast. When you arrive, the little ones can explore the neat little playground that they offer with both plenty of slides and swings for everyone to enjoy. There are both play sets for older and younger kids, so everyone of all ages can be involved and have a blast. After they tire themselves there and get too hot, everyone can enjoy cooling off in the water. If you bring along an umbrella, make sure to keep them behind the cones. Also, there are plenty of lifeguards that are always on duty so everyone is always safe. After you finish swimming in the water, you can wash up in the bathrooms where  they offer public restrooms and showers that run for 25 cents per minute. If you get hungry, make sure to pack snacks and stuff to set up a picnic so you and your family can enjoy a cute beach picnic. However, if you want to get out of the sun, they offer a pavilion with plenty of picnic tables so you can escape the heat and enjoy your meal in the peace and quiet of the park. Afterwards, the ice cream truck sometimes stops by so you can grab a sweet treat after your meal if you are lucky. Whne planning your trip, keep in mind that the beach often gets more crowded later at night.
