Families can definitely spend hours at Montville Playground!
This spot is the perfect place to come with a family and spend time enjoying the fresh air. Everything that a kid could want in a playground is here! There are all types of swings: baby, big kid, and all-accessible. This playground has a few different areas: each area has a sign indicating what age group the play structure is meant for! This is a great way to provide variation in the height and accessibility of structures, as well as a great way to make sure toddlers aren’t caught up in a pack of big kids. At the playground, there are tons of different things to climb. Spider-web nets, playground structures, and a contraption with rope ladders that spins (slowly and safely for kids) when pushed are all so fun. There are so many slides, balancing activities, and other jungle gym essentials, as well. My personal favorite part was the two metal zip lines that are there!
Parents will love how there is so much open space for their kids to run around… and it’s all gated in! Most of the playground seems to be in the sun, but trees provide some areas with shade. There are benches throughout the playground, which are perfect places for parents to sit and watch their kids, or for kids to plop down and take a break from running around. Picnic benches sit under a covered area, providing shade and a good spot to sit and enjoy a packed snack or lunch. There are also porta potties and a water fountain.
Right down the hill from the playground, there are turf fields. These are huge open spaces for kids to run around and get some more energy out. Soccer nets make playing a pickup game fun and easy! A sand volleyball court is a unique feature of this area; kids can practice serving or play against each other. There are also basketball courts (three courts, six hoops), for families to practice foul shots, dribbling, or play a pickup game. These courts are also gated in, making them a good area to let kids run around, as well. Located right near the basketball courts are public restrooms and vending machines.
