Motts Run Reservoir has a lovely, 4.6 loop trail in Fredericksburg with bonus activities to enjoy.

Here, you truly can immerse yourself in nature and potentially experience a variety of active wildlife. There is a smaller parking lot with only around 15 spots, so plan accordingly to beat the crowd. It should be noted that the park is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you have an active dog at home who needs to get out of the house, this trail is dog-friendly as long as they are kept on a leash.

These trails feature different terrain to hike, walk, or run, and will soon be host to mountain biking as well. These trails are relatively easy to follow and are in pretty good shape. The hike is moderately difficult so not for all abilities, but not too hard. You can also go fishing. They sell bait on site but keep in mind a valid fishing license is required. Other options are canoe, kayak and boat rental or you can put your own boating in the water if you don’t want to go on a hike. If you get hungry, there are vending machines to stop and grab a snack or drink. However, we always suggest bringing water bottles while hiking.

Also, if you use the boat ramp to go out on the water for the day, you can bring a nice picnic to have a lovely, scenic lunch on the water.  No matter what you choose, there are beautiful views all around. They also have a nature center! The reservoir is very secluded, serving up a peaceful atmosphere for all to enjoy.
