Visit Nystrom's Park for a fun day by the playground or beach!

Nystrom’s Park has a little bit of everything. There is a playground that kids enjoy that has swings and slides. It is appropriate for up to age 10. However, the coolest play feature this park has to offer has to be the newly added pirate ship playscape. It is a super cool wooden pirate ship, with steps to board and a slide to exit. Your creative kids’ minds will run wild as they play imaginative games about sailing the ship across the sea. There are a lot of cool features on board as well, such as monkey bars, so the kids will be able to be entertained much longer than you would think. Don’t be fooled by the pictures online, the ship is actually larger than it appears as well. 

After your kids have retired as pirates, there are a lot of other cool spaces in this park to explore. There are a lot of sports opportunities, with a small baseball field, full-size soccer field, tennis courts, and even a track. There are sometimes high school and youth sports events going on, but even if you can’t make it onto the field, it could be fun for your kids to catch parts of a game. 

There is also a beach and picnic area if you are visiting on a warm summer or spring day. The beach is open from memorial day to labor day. Admission to each is $2 per person for residents of Thomaston and Litchfield and $4 per person for those who are not residents. This area is a super cool and easy way to cool down in the summer and re-energize with a yummy pre-packed picnic meal. There are also grills near the picnic tables if you want to turn your beach day into a barbecue.
