Oyster Shell Park has great views and fun outdoor activities in Norwalk!

Visit Oyster Shell Park for a family day in a prime location in Norwalk! Take in the beautiful waterfront views of the Norwalk River and Harbor while spending the day walking, picnicking or playing on the playground. The playground is designed for younger kids, with a red, white and blue fish theme. It is well kept, and located right beside the small free parking lot. There is green space around the park, however, it is not enclosed by a fence so be sure to keep your eyes on the kids at all times. The playground has multiple slides, including a racing slide, a cool tunnel, a climbing ladder and a cool stepping stone climbing feature. It is just large enough that it will keep all of the little kids entertained for a decent amount of time, but it is definitely not a full-day activity to go to the playground alone. Luckily, there are a lot of awesome loop trails throughout the park. The pails are paved and stroller-friendly. Bring bikes or scooters as well! There is also a lot of green space, so the kiddos can run around and let out some energy.

In the winter, Oyster Shell Park is a popular destination for winter sports, you can catch the whole community out sledding!  The parking lot beside the playground offers two hours of free parking, so you can allow a good amount of time to enjoy all that the park has to offer. There is also street parking on water street if you plan to stay longer or the lot is full.

The park is host to various events including a beer festival, and the nearby area also has a lot of kid activities, many of which offer educational benefits as well. Check out either the Maritime Aquarium or Stepping Stones Children Museum. The museum is on the other side of the railroad tracks, but there is a walking trail that leads to it.
