PlayHaven Park is a small green space and playground in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood of Portland.
This three-plus-acre neighborhood park situated in the Terrace Hills subdivision, offers a super cool climbing playground, as well as a small toddler playground. I’d say the climbing area is probably geared towards older kids (5 plus), but my five-year-old was able to do parts of it himself, including the rope web and a tall unique ladder structure that he did need some coaching through. There’s a tall slide, but the steps leading up to it are anything but ordinary, more like a round bar to step onto.
The toddler playground was much smaller and hAD steps and a ladder up to the platform, where there’s a steering wheel and a double slide (although water was pooled at the bottom of both slides so my kids unfortunately didn’t go down them). A swing set sits nearby with two kid swings, one baby swing, and a more inclusive backed swing. There’s also a full basketball court just a short walk off the playground.
A few picnic tables there make for a convenient space to have lunch, but there’s also a medium sized grassy area to play or picnic on. A paved trail goes approximately 0.4 miles around the park, making it also a nice spot to push a stroller for some exercise.
There’s a (seasonal) drinking fountain and no bathroom available, so plan accordingly. I also noticed that although there are trees not far away, the playground itself is in direct sun and most likely gets pretty hot in summer.
We love visiting neighborhood parks like this because they are typically pretty quiet, this one included.
