Tasty Ice Cream, Play Area, and Engaging Tour of the Working Richland's Dairy Farm!
Richlands Dairy Farm in Dinwiddie is just 30 minutes south of Richmond and offers so much for families. The farm is well-known for its delicious dairy products, which can be purchased at the creamery adjacent to the farm. When we visited, my children loved their milkshakes and ice cream. Surprisingly, we were the only patrons in the entire creamery that day. It was a weekday, at 11:00 A.M, which is the opening time for the creamery. The staff was patient, and the kitchen and entire facility were immaculately clean. Parking is also directly in front of the creamery, making it easy to visit.
After enjoying our frozen treats, we headed to the play area. There is a sand pit with several toys, buckets, shovels, and trucks. There is also a tractor to sit on and a playset with a big slide. The fun games provided are oversized Jenga and Checkers. My children loved playing out here and were especially tickled to hear the cows moo'ing from the farm, just over the fence. The restrooms are inside the creamery, but you can easily access the interior of the creamery from outside, should someone need to use the bathroom.
If you want to do a dairy farm tour, you will need to register in advance and have an appointment. Farm tours are $80 for ten people. The tour includes sensory bins, visiting and petting the cows, and learning about daily life on a dairy farm.
