Risley Park in Oak Grove is a 5-acre park space with playgrounds, sports courts, and a large grassy area.

I would definitely say the highlight of this park is that one of the two play structures is in sand where there’s a bin of community toys: trucks, shovels, sifters, etc, for anyone to play with. Bring a picnic blanket and sit back on the grass to relax as your kids get hyper-focused on sand play.

The larger structure here has monkey bars, two metal slides, a small bridge, a tic tac toe game, and more. Then the other play structure is a bit smaller and boasts another two slides, a steering wheel, a fire pole, and another tic tac toe game. There’s also two swing sets, one with two baby swings (one which has a chain across the front instead of the classic style), and the other which offers a regular kid swing and a take on the more inclusive backed swing.

Nearby are two tennis courts and both a full and half basketball court. There’s an open grassy area with trees scattered around, so you can pretty much see the entirety of the park. A paved path leads around the park with openings on both SE Swain and SE Risley entrances. I counted a minimum of seven picnic tables, with at least as many benches making this a prime local spot.

Two available porta potties (which were well kept) are located near the entrance at SE Swain Ave., I noticed a few trash cans as well. Parking is along the street at either side of the park and dogs are allowed on leash.

While we were here it did seem somewhat busy, but it was a beautiful spring day. In fact we spent over four hours here, so I hope you enjoy this park as much as we did.

Hi, I’m Emily. A stay at home mom to two young children. We love getting outside & I’m always looking for new ways to challenge ourselves to do so. Me being an avid hiker & camper before kids, it’s only felt natural to continue exploring (if but a little slower), with them in tow. Besides hiking & camping, I’m also passionate about traveling, stand up paddleboarding, working out, swimming, cooking, reading for pleasure, living a nontoxic lifestyle, needle felting, & following my heart.
