Ross Dock Playground is the perfect spot to play and picnic in Bergen County!
Ross Dock Playground is found at the north end of the Ross Dock Picnic area, in the Palisades Interstate Park. The playground is geared towards kids 12 and under. The playground is not enclosed but is surrounded by a big green area. There are both baby and big kid swings, as well as two separated play areas for different ages. The baby swings are on the opposite side of the toddler play area, so be aware that your kids will be running through the big kid area to get from one to another. There are many slides and cool climbing features in the jungle gym. The ground is woodchip, so I would recommend bringing closed-toed shoes to avoid splinters.
Since the park is conveniently located in the Ross Dock picnic area, it is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a family picnic. If you don’t have food packed, there is also the Ross Dock Breezeway, a concession stand available while in season. There are also restrooms there. Although the grounds are always open, the Breezeway and most other park restrooms are not available in the winter. The green space in the rest of the picnic area is perfect for running around, older kids should definitely bring sports equipment to keep themselves occupied if they are too old for playgrounds or wander the trails while you're there!
Parking at the picnic area is available. It is $5 on weekdays and $10 on weekends and holidays. There is also free parking on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Note that parking is cash only! It is also important to know that on weekends and holidays cars can only park at the Edgewater Park entrance to access the dock and picnic area.
