Bergen County's Saddle River County Park is a great stop for a family walk or bike ride exploring!
Saddle River County Park is a great park with a 6-mile walking path and many cool activities to stop by along the way. The path is super flat and fairly wide, so it is stroller accessible and a great place to bring bikes and scooters for the kids. Whether they are already great at riding or just learning, it is the perfect place for them to enjoy their wheels on a fun family ride. The bike trail entrance can be found in Rochelle Park, and you travel north. The park goes all the way from Ridgewood to New Rochelle, and passes a couple of towns between those two as well, including Glen Rock, Paramus and Fair Lawn, as it travels along the water. This is also a pedestrian walkway, so you could easily choose to walk or bike the trail as well.
Throughout your journey, you will pass many cool places to break up your trip, including a couple of ponds, shaded picnic areas and pavilions, sports courts and fields, and more. There are also playgrounds throughout the whole park, so it would be super fun for the kids to stop at each and then bike to the next once they have played with everything. These playgrounds aren’t the biggest, but they definitely each have a few fun pieces of equipment for kids to enjoy no matter their age. The path links a total of 5 parks, so check out a map before you leave to see which is most interesting for your crew.
There are both restroom buildings and portapotties available throughout the path, as well as benches. Parking is available, but they ask that you do not park on the grass.
