Enjoy a hike through Saxon Woods Trail with the whole family!

The Saxon Woods Trail is an awesome place for a family hike along the Mamaroneck River. The location offers trails 2.5 miles along the river, though the whole park is a full 711 acres. Enjoy the breathtaking views on the trails, many of which are stroller friendly and all even good for dog walking on a leash. Even horseback riders and cross country skiers use the trails to enjoy their hobbies, so you see a little bit of everything on your trip here. It is the perfect hike for little kids, as the terrain is gentle, but older kids will also love the paths, so it is great for a full family hike. There are some rocks beside the path that your kiddos will love climbing, so make sure everyone is in climbing sneakers!

Aside from hiking, Saxon Woods offers a lot of activities worth checking out with your family. There is an awesome all abilities playground with slides and cool climbing features and is actually the only playground in the county accessible to the disabled. Your kids will be begging to go back to this awesome playground after your visit. There are benches and picnic areas nearby, so it would be so fun to pack a little picnic and enjoy a family meal outdoors.

Other unique features that set this park apart from other hiking parts are the golf course and swimming pool. Accessible to those who have a Westchester County Park Pass, the pool is the county’s largest swimming pool. There also is an aquatic playground, filled with fun splashing features. It gets pretty busy in the summer but is the perfect way to cool down after a hike or even just plan a relaxing pool day on its own. The 18-hole golf course is also gorgeous, and there is a mini-golf option for families. Golf courses in Westchester parks also require a park or guest pass.
