Water Tower Park is a small neighborhood park in Milwaukie. This park is unique because a large water tower partly overshadows it.

The park consists of two separate play structures. One for younger children, with one wide, short slide and a small tube slide, spinning letter blocks, and a steering wheel. The larger structure, geared towards older kids, also has two slides. A wavy metal slide and another yet longer tube slide. This structure also has a few places to climb, a bridge, and another tube, this one going between two platforms. There’s also another unattached platform with more spinning letter blocks and two sets of swings, one with two baby swings, the other with two regular swings.

There are several benches to sit on and one picnic table (there used to be two picnic tables, so I’m not sure if they’re in the process of replacing the one that’s missing). There’s also a flat cemented area directly under the water tower that provides cover from both rain and sun. The park has a mix of sun and shade depending on what time you visit. We like to bring chalk to draw on the sidewalks, bubbles to blow, and lots of snacks.

The grass between the playground area and under the water tower is slightly inclined, although it flattens out once you get to the concrete under the building.

There’s also a small basketball court and a short paved path through the park.

There is a drinking fountain on site, but no bathrooms and dogs are allowed on leash. There is street parking along SE 40th Avenue.

As of June 2022 there are porta potties along SE 40th Ave, presumably only for summer.

Hi, I’m Emily. A stay at home mom to two young children. We love getting outside & I’m always looking for new ways to challenge ourselves to do so. Me being an avid hiker & camper before kids, it’s only felt natural to continue exploring (if but a little slower), with them in tow. Besides hiking & camping, I’m also passionate about traveling, stand up paddleboarding, working out, swimming, cooking, reading for pleasure, living a nontoxic lifestyle, needle felting, & following my heart.
